Get Your Mining Project Financed!
WHAT IS MINING, AND WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials from the earth, from an ore body, vein or (coal) seam. The term also includes the removal of soil. Materials recovered by mining include base metals, precious metals, iron, uranium, coal, diamonds, limestone, oil shale, rock salt and potash. Any material that cannot be grown through agricultural processes, or created artificially in a laboratory or factory, is usually mined. Mining in a wider sense comprises extraction of any non-renewable resource (e.g., petroleum, natural gas, or even water).
Mining operations can be grouped into five major categories in terms of their respective resources. These are: 1) oil and gas extraction, 2) coal mining, 3) metal ore mining, 4) nonmetallic mineral mining and quarrying, and 5) support activities for mining.
A great feature in funding mining projects is the fact that traditional funding instruments can be and often are used - no special accommodations or arrangements need to be added on to a funding arrangement involving mining development or exploration.
On the business end, the Promoter is required to produce essentially the same basic information and documents as he/she would in any other type of project (ex: documents such as a Business Plan and/or Feasibility Study).
- Gilles Herard, Jr (February 2008)
In addition to this, the Promoter must also provide the Funder with any and all information and documents connected with the "Technology" to be used for the Project, should it be relevant; hence it is indeed important to include in the Presentation report or Business Plan the technology to be used. Also, it is needful for us to see the geological surveys of the terrain(s) in question.

What is mainly referred to as the 'mining industry' is actually two sectors, one specializing in exploration for new resources, the other specializing in mining those resources. The exploration sector is typically made up of individuals and small mineral resource companies ("juniors") dependent on venture capital. The mining sector is typically large and multi-national companies sustained by mineral production from their mining operations. In addition to these two sectors, various other industries such as equipment manufacture, environmental testing and metallurgy analysis also rely on and support the mining industry throughout the world.
